Bursary awards for grant applications

Could a bursary award help you develop a better capital grant application?

Before you apply for a capital grant, you need a good business plan to support your case.

If you have a pioneering idea for a project, or want to grow an existing operation, but you don’t have a strong business plan in place, you can apply for a bursary award to help you develop your application for a capital grant. However demand for the bursaries is high and it is possible that this money will be fully committed by November 2007.

Please note, the bursaries are not for general research but specifically to enable you to buy time or help in writing and preparing plans for a full capital grant application. The rationale behind your bursary application should therefore fit into the preferred criteria for the capital grant in some way.

The award of a bursary does not guarantee a successful application for a capital grant, but it should improve your chances of receiving investment both from this Fund and from elsewhere.

Having a bursary award in advance of a grant application can make a big difference to the outcome of your plans as a whole.

A bursary award can be used to produce a detailed plan showing the positive impact you anticipate from the purchase of buildings and land. It will help you pull in expert advice and professional expertise to develop your proposal to the standard need for a full grant application, To find out uses to which bursary money has been put click on Money in Action.

What will a bursary award achieve for your proposal?

You may want to pull in extra human resource to research your plans and asses the physical and social environment in which you will operate. You may need additional support to set out all the information about project objectives and the estimated number of beneficiaries. Or perhaps you need support to explore the wider impact of your work and the costs of developing your proposal.

A bursary award helps you stay proactive and brings closer the possibility of a successful grant application.
